Working at the historic Trail Ridge Store & Café located high in the Rocky Mountains on Trail Ridge Road – cresting at over 12,000 feet – is a once in a lifetime adventure! Xanterra operates a cafe, coffee bar, and retail store which are open seasonally from late May to mid-October. We’re hiring Lead Food & Beverage Attendants to Live. Work. Explore. this summer!

 

Job Summary:
Assist guests in a courteous and knowledgeable manner, answering questions regarding the park, prices, and merchandise. Operating POS units and restocking are essential. This is a fast-paced and busy store.

 

The Details:

Position Type: Full-time, Seasonal. There are NO full-time year-round positions available.
Season Dates: Mid-May until mid-October
Pay: $16.15
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties with respect to the Company’s Core Values, Mission Statement, and guest services standards.
  • Assure the highest standards of restaurant service are met for the guests, the company, and the National Park Service.
  • Perform all cashiering duties properly, ring up all sales before taking money, call out amount tendered in “dollars and cents”, place bills on register, and count back change.
  • Suggest add-on sales to every transaction performed.
  • Assist the F&B Manager in the day-to-day operation of the café, especially in the absence of the F&B Manager.
  • Assist the F&B Manager with staff supervision and training as needed.
  • Assist the F&B Manager in organizing the stockroom, stocking product as necessary, making sure all displays are kept stocked, neat, and clean.
  • Candidates will be responsible for knowing and working all areas of the café, working alongside all food outlet attendants.
  • Communicate with location management regarding the café operation, business needs, staffing, and employee issues.
  • Help with loading and unloading box truck with product needed to run the café on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate with F&B Manager regarding issues, product needs, merchandising, and training.
  • Provide excellent guest service for all. Greet guests with a smile.
  • Receive orders and help maintain inventory par levels in the cafe.
  • Keep the café clean on a daily basis, which includes sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, mopping, and trash removal.
  • Maximize sales by using menu knowledge and suggestive up-selling techniques.
  • Handle cashier change requests.
  • Verify attendants cash drawers & deposits.
  • Responsible for safe and cash banks.
  • Alert manager to shrinkage, guest problems and concerns.
  • Maintain a safe & sanitary work area.
  • Work espresso coffee bar, hot line, and food prep as directed by manager.
  • Comply with ServSafe protocol.
  • Open and close the guest service facilities on time every day.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform duties outside the job classification assigned by management along with any other responsibilities deemed necessary.
  • This is a non-tipped position.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and guest service skills.
  • ServSave certification helpful.
  • Must understand and enforce FIFO (First In-First Out) procedures.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to make change.
  • Working knowledge of all positions supervised.
  • Working knowledge of all equipment used within the food and beverage operation.
  • Knowledge of all menus: specials, features, food, and beverages.
  • Knowledgeable of procedures and policies used within the food and beverage operation and company.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of food & beverage procedures.
  • Must be able to remain calm in a high stress environment.
  • Able to function with flexibility, and courteous behavior in a high traffic seasonal food service operation.
  • Acquire and demonstrate an advanced knowledge of products sold in the cafe.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision. Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Able to keep accurate receiving and back stock records.
  • Demonstrate basic awareness of general shop security and theft prevention.
  • Able to train fellow associates on product attributes and café procedures.
  • Must possess a non-CDL, valid driver’s license, and a clean record.

Physical Requirements include:

  • Candidate must be able to work at an altitude of 12,000 feet.
  • Ability to stand/walk for a minimum eight to ten hour shift.
  • Frequently lift and carry cartons weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to walk up and down stairs several times a day.
  • Carry boxes/product up and down stairs several times a day.
  • Must be able to bend down or kneel to stock product frequently during a shift.
  • Must be able to climb ladders as requested.
